BRISTOL, REDCLIFF QUARTER
(incorporating Sampson Court)
A major mixed-use urban regeneration to revitalise a derelict 3.5 acre city centre site to create a vibrant new urban quarter for the heart of Bristol.
Geared towards an ’18-hour city’, the 600,000 sq. ft. proposal will be a truly mixed-use development, including up to 430 new apartments, offices, a new food court concept and restaurants showcasing local culinary talent and produce. The scheme will be anchored by a 185 bed 4-star hotel, designed to a new urban-lifestyle hotel concept for occupation by an international hotel operator.
The proposal creates new public realm and active streets, with open spaces, courtyards and rooftop gardens. A 22-storey residential tower will act as a beacon for regeneration within the city skyline, its design reflecting the area’s glass-making heritage. Redcliff Quarter will become a vibrant new destination capitalising on its excellent public transport networks and occupying a prime location close to the Harbourside, business, and retail quarters.
Construction has already begun on the initial Phase 1 (approved in 2015), comprising a mix of retail units and 128 residential units, which is integrated into the wider proposal. This second phase is anticipated to start on site mid-2017.
